Producer / Senior Producer

EdComs is looking for proactive, organised individuals to join our Programme Development team and work in a client-facing editorial and project management role. You’ll need to have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to work well individually and in a team. Attention to detail and strong written communication skills are vital.

Overall job scope

Depending on experience, the Producer / Senior Producer will contribute to or lead the production of multiple educational projects in a range of media from concept development to market.

The Producer / Senior Producer will sustain productive working relationships with clients ranging from global brands to leading charities and government organisations.


We are looking for:

  • Producers, who will have at least one or two years’ experience in a relevant role, and who may not be the finished article, but are eager to learn
  • Senior Producers, who will have several years’ experience in a relevant role.

They would have experience in two or more of the following areas:

  • Developing content in an editorial role
  • Project management
  • Managing digital projects
  • Dealing with clients

Teaching experience or an interest in education/young people would be an advantage, as would an interest or background in sport (particularly football) or science.

Key responsibility areas

Overall responsibility

Production of educational projects in a range of media, including digital. Defining and meeting budget and schedule on discrete elements of programmes. Assisting with business development tenders and pitches. Involvement in cross-company initiatives. Liaison with clients on project delivery.

Key responsibility areas

Content development

  • Copyediting, preparing scripts for Digital/Design, marking up design layouts and proofreading printed and online content.
  • Working with Digital colleagues on wireframes/sitemaps etc.
  • Production management/checking of design and web work.
  • Research and commission educational authors and reviewers.
  • Input into concept development for education projects – developing content ideas and some writing.

Project management

  • Contribute to delivery of projects to schedule, budget and to EdComs’ quality standard.
  • Some scheduling work – using Team Gantt or MS Project.
  • Liaise regularly with stakeholders e.g. teachers using our programmes.
  • Brief and manage suppliers and partner organisations.
  • Liaise with other teams across the company where appropriate e.g. Research team for project evaluation, Digital team for website development, Marketing team for promotion.
  • Support projects led by other teams e.g. live events, training.
  • Senior Producers:
    • Take ownership for the development of better working processes.
    • Some budgeting.
    • Liaise with colleagues on workload/work allocation and overarching schedules.

Account management

  • Day-to-day contact with clients regarding project delivery.
  • Reporting (e.g. web stats, contact reports, data).
  • Senior Producers:
    • Spot opportunities for business development with existing clients – maximise these or refer to colleagues.
